Zonta international foundation offers The Amelia Earhart Fellowship for Ph.D. females in aerospace-applied sciences or aerospace-applied engineering. The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowships were established in 1938 in honor of Amelia Earhart, famed pilot and Zonta club member. The Amelia Earhart Fellowships are awarded annually to women pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree conducting research applied to aerospace engineering or space sciences. The Fellowship of US$10,000 may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree who demonstrate a superior academic record conducting research applied to aerospace engineering or space sciences are eligible.
  • It is imperative that students be registered in a full-time Ph.D./doctoral program and have completed at least one year of that program or have received a master’s degree in an aerospace-applied field at the time the application is submitted.
  • Applicants must not graduate from their Ph.D. or doctoral program before April 2022. 
  • Post-doctoral research programs are not eligible for the Fellowship.
  • Classified members and employees of Zonta International and the Zonta Foundation for Women, and their family members, are not eligible to apply for the Fellowship.
  • Previous Amelia Earhart Fellows are not eligible to apply to renew the Fellowship for a second year.

Funding:

The fellowship offers a $ 10,000 that can be used to pay for tuition, books, living, and travel costs. This amount will not be considered taxable income. Recipients are not permitted to defer the Fellowship and may accept additional grants and scholarships from other sources.
