The Schlumberger Foundation has announced the acceptance of new applications to the Future Fellowship Program for Women from Developing and Economically Emerging Countries to pursue doctoral or post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at leading universities around the world. In the long term, the program aims to empower women in the scientific field and help them to inspire other girls and women to pursue scientific careers.

Grant Value:

The amount of the grant is USD 50,000 per year for a Ph.D. and USD 40,000 per year for a Post-doc, may be renewed through to completion of studies. Renewal grants are subject to performance, self-evaluation, recommendations from supervisors and strong evidence of re-integration plans in the home country.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this grant, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

Be a citizen of a developing country or a country with an emerging economy and not hold a second nationality from a developed country.

Note: If the applicant obtains a second nationality from a developed country after receiving the grant, the grant will be discontinued as of the date of such additional citizenship.

Be prepared for a Ph.D. degree or post-doctoral research in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
Be enrolled, admitted or have applied to a host university/research institute abroad.

Note: If the student is applying for a sandwich course the final degree must be awarded by the Host University abroad (i.e., not from the home country university).

hold an excellent academic record.
have a proven track record of teaching experience or can demonstrate a commitment to teaching.
can demonstrate active participation in outreach programs to encourage young women into the sciences.
Be willing to contribute to the socio-economic development of your home country by strengthening the faculties in your home university, pursuing relevant research, or using your specific expertise to address public policy matters.

Level of commitment to return to the home country.

The Schlumberger Foundation is an independent nonprofit entity that supports science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. Since its inception, the Foundation has focused on funding a variety of programs in scientific-educational all over the world. In 2004, the Foundation announced the launch of a Future Fellowship Program for Women in Developing Countries to support them in scientific fields and enable them to obtain a doctorate or post-doctoral research from leading universities in the world.
