The Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) Sustainability Challenge is now available for participants all over the world. The TSL Sustainability Challenge is a video contest for learners around the world. This  competition aims to empower learners of all ages, as a platform to share their views and have their voices heard.

About the Competition:-

  • Participants are invited to create a short video (max. 1 minute each), either as an individual or a group, showcasing their messages on biodiversity to world leaders and governments before the upcoming COP 15 meeting of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in May 2021.

  • Entries are divided into 4 categories:

    • Primary (aged 7-11).

    • Secondary (aged 11-17).

    • Tertiary (aged 18+).

    • Teachers.

Terms and Conditions:-

  • Each essay writer or video creator warrants that he/she personally created, wrote and produced his/her essay or video submission, except where otherwise quoted or credited in the essay or video. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are reproduced, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. For judging purposes, entries should be in English.

  • It is the responsibility of participating schools to ensure that they have sought and obtained any relevant protections or permissions relating to intellectual property.

  • Individuals under the age of 19 and anyone else who is below the age of majority of their place of residence must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter the competition and be eligible to receive any prizes.

  • Sustainability Challenge video permissions: It is the responsibility of participating Schools to ensure that they have sought and obtained all appropriate permissions for images of individuals appearing in the submitted videos.

  • The Grand Prize winner is responsible for obtaining all required travel documents and for any and all additional expenses not noted in the official prize description associated with claiming the Grand Prize including, but not limited to, travel insurance, ground transportation costs, taxes, visa costs and other expenses (the “Expenses”). The Grand Prize winner understands that he or she may not seek reimbursement for the Expenses from TSL.

Judging Criteria:-

  • The Sustainability Challenge is judged on the quality of the messages featured in the videos and how the messages are presented. Simplicity is no barrier and videos filmed on mobile phones or tablets are warmly encouraged.

  • Social media responses to the videos are taken into account during the judging process and must include the hashtag #TSLBiodiversity2021.  Viewers are invited to show support for their favourite videos on YouTube.

Prize:-

  • The winner of the Grand Prize will receive:

    • Return economy class air travel for up to three people (including the winner, the winner’s parent or legal guardian if the winner is a minor, and the registered teacher champion) between a major airport near the winner’s residence and the location of the TSL 2021 Schools’ Summit in July 2021 for a period of approximately 5 days. Once the tickets are purchased by the TSL, travel dates cannot be changed and any fees related to booking changes will be the responsibility of the Grand Prize winner.

    • Accommodation in up to 2 hotel rooms (one for the winning student & parent/legal guardian and one for the Teacher Champion) arranged by TSL for approximately 5 nights.

    • £500 spending money to cover miscellaneous travel expenses.

  • The Grand Prize value will vary depending on the travel arrangements confirmed by TSL. The Prize has no redeemable cash value.
