WFP offers an internship in Germany in the field of people operations. Under the direct supervision of the people operations manager, the candidate will support the ongoing operations of the ShareTheMeal initiative as well as support other work streams as needed. Throughout their assignment WFP interns will have access to an industry-leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, they may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

Eligibility:

You must:

  1. Currently enrolled with at least two years of undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the past six months).
  2. University course attendance in the past 12 months.
  3. Excellent command of English (level C); Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  5. Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  6. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to organize and adapt to a high workload.
  8. Customer-centric mindset.
  9. Female applicants and qualified applicants from developing countries are especially encouraged to apply. 

Your Responsibilities:

Reporting to the people operations manager for the ShareTheMeal initiative, the intern will:

  • Assist with ongoing recruitment activities, including interview scheduling and corresponding with candidates.
  • Support the ongoing operations of the ShareTheMeal initiative.
  • Work closely with the people operations manager, support organization of internal/external meetings/events, and assist with employer branding activities.
  • Conduct customer support activities across different channels.
  • Provide administrative support for the ShareTheMeal initiative and coordinate with other relevant WFP stakeholders.
  • Participate in workstream discussions/meetings as required.
  • Support other work streams as needed.
  • Assist the management team of the ShareTheMeal initiative with other activities as required.
  • Under the supervision of the people operations manager, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. 
  • Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be an elemental part of the supervision. 
  • With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should have:

  1. A comprehensive understanding of how innovation is utilized within WFP.
  2. A comprehensive understanding of the operations aspects of fundraising through mobile channels.
  3. Assisted with the interview scheduling, correspondence with candidates, customer support, and additional areas that may be decided upon.
  4. A monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  5. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  6. WFP will reimburse travel tickets for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  7. WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or ministries of education.
  8. Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
