Disney is looking for entry-level VFX artists to join Sydney’s first Jedi academy in early 2021. The successful candidates will reflect the innovative spirit, creative talent, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM. ILM’s layout department covers a wide range of work from the camera, actor, and object match move, working with state of the art facial capture systems, lensing for CG shots or sequences, and setting up scenes for subsequent departments to work in. The artists use both proprietary ILM tools and mainstream software to achieve this.

Eligibility:

You must:

  • Be a VFX graduate or junior artist with a genuine passion for a career in layout and cameras.
  • A basic understanding of digital cameras and layout, and passion for technology.
  • Be a great collaborator, a curious learner with a blend of creative and technical skills.
  • Have a bachelor's degree in VFX, digital media or animation, and/or a reel demonstrating evidence of your work in layout, and a general understanding of CG.
  • The Jedi academy layout program will start in February 2021. It's offering 12-month opportunities consisting of an intensive and full-time initial training period (6-12 weeks depending on discipline and applicant level) followed by on the job development. This is a paid position.
  • Applicants must reside in NSW and provide proof of long-term eligibility to work in Australia. The company can't provide assistance for relocation, housing, transportation, or work authorization for the Jedi academy.
