The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a qualified Intermediate English Trainer to join the team and work in Beirut, Lebanon for 2020. 

The training will expand over a period of 84 hours covering the following topics:

  1. Introducing oneself and others.
  2. Using a wide range of adjectives, plural of nouns, prepositions of time and place, possessions.
  3. Describing workplace objects and activities.
  4. Using a wide range of English verbs in the present simple and present continuous.
  5. Reading English texts and answering questions.
  6. Talking about past events and previous jobs using verbs in the past tenses.
  7. Giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing politely.
  8. Making plans and arrangements using future tense.
  9. Writing paragraphs with well-structured sentences.
  10. Expressing likes and dislikes.
  11. Communicating effectively with superiors and colleagues at the workplace.
  12. Writing basic formal email.
  13. Differentiating between formal and informal telephone language.
  14. Answering and leaving phone messages, redirecting calls.

By the end of the training, attendees should be able to:

  1.  Engage in oral and written English communication at the workplace.
  2. Acquire competence in grammatical structures.
  3. Increase business vocabulary comprehensively.
  4. Understand the main idea of a complex English text.
  5. Present or share ideas in oral English more fluently.
  6. Understand the proper etiquette and format in emails.
  7. Follow proper telephone etiquette: professionalism and effectiveness in taking messages, re-directing and following up calls.
  8. Handling difficult customers and callers.
  9. Develop a positive attitude and interpersonal skills.
  10. Acquire the essential soft skills needed in the workplace.

Qualifications:

  1. Have a Bachelor in English literature, English education, translation, any related field or an extensive experience providing English trainings. A teaching diploma is a plus.
  2. Possess a solid understanding of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
  3. Possess a solid understanding of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
  4. Have a computer and a stable internet connection to be able to deliver the remote sessions.
  5. Have computer skill and be familiar with online training delivery techniques.
  6. Be available and willing to provide face to face trainings when requested to do so.
  7. Be flexible to accommodate any changed in the delivery modality when changes in the country’s general situation demand so.
