The pharmaceutical group Insud Pharma has set up an initiative called ChemoStart, designed by Leandro Sigman, which seeks to help startups launch innovative healthcare projects and further the development of projects which are already underway.
The program is open to any health-related project, including the development of new drugs, precision medicine, artificial intelligence, diagnostics, wearables, and any other technology that may be applied in the sector. This is a philanthropic initiative aimed at helping entrepreneurs with their projects and building an ecosystem that supports and underpins their development.
The Programme is open to natural persons, either individually or in teams, as well as to companies and other legally-constituted organizations (associations, jointly-owned entities, etc.).
Admission and provisional selection phase:
The projects will be evaluated by an Assessment Committee comprising professionals from the Insud Pharma Group and external experts with a professional background in areas related to the entries submitted.
The general criteria for provisional selection are 1) Innovation of the proposal; 2) Scientific and technological basis; 3) Robustness of the team; 4) Scientific/clinical interest in the problem to be resolved; 5) Scalability and commercial interest.
The participants whose entries are provisionally selected will be notified by email, using the contact details indicated by the participants on the application form. Additional documentation will be requested to progress to the selection phase.
In January 2021 – date and time to be confirmed. The Pitch Day will be held by telematic means or at Insud Pharma's head offices (Calle Manuel Pombo Angulo 28, 28050 Madrid). At this event, the shortlisted projects will be pitched to an external panel of experts in a range of fields within the health sector, who will select the 2 or 3 winning projects that will receive support via the program.
The selected projects will receive tailored support, with a program to be designed in line with their needs and stage of development, over the course of 4 to 6 months.
Insud Pharma will offer these projects mentoring, advisory services, and coaching with a cabinet of experts and the group's contact network, responding to the project's specific requirements. They will also be provided with a general support contact who will manage meetings and other needs related to the program, as well as having access to coworking spaces at our head offices.
Following the incubation/acceleration period, Insud Pharma will help the projects to secure financing through its contact network, which includes various investment funds specializing in the health sector as well as business angels, by holding an Investor Day in June 2021. At the Investor Day, the projects will be pitched, in person, to the potential investors, and support will be provided to help the projects secure investment agreements. The startups will also be offered expert support and advice throughout this process.
