Salary: £27,511 to £40,322 per annum, (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £30942 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

We are seeking up to three highly motivated, creative Research Associates/Fellows to join our multi-disciplinary team of approximately 30 chemists and engineers undertaking exciting research projects at the University of Nottingham involving continuous flow photochemistry, electrochemistry and thermal chemistry. The aim of all projects is to transform the way fine chemicals and medicines are manufactured in the UK (further details: https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/photoelectro/photo-electro.aspx ). The posts will involve lab-based research, with projects that require innovative thinking and collaborations with industrial partners.

The candidate will be based at the University of Nottingham but may have occasional travel to Bristol and Southampton.

The successful candidates must hold a PhD (or expect to be awarded a PhD shortly) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. They must have research experience at post graduate level with experience in the use of research methodologies and techniques to work within this area. It is desirable that candidates have specific skills and experience two or more of the following areas: organic photochemistry, flow chemistry ideally involving high-pressure flow reactors, especially near-critical and supercritical fluids and organic solvents, design of high pressure systems, and the use of analytical chemistry, particularly time-resolved spectroscopy.

The posts are available to start immediately and will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31 January 2023. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
