Purpose
The Sports Turf Scholarship encourages postgraduate study in sports turf management and related topics.
Background
This scholarship is funded by the NZ Sports Turf Institute. The institute is New Zealand’s only full-service sports turf consultancy group specialising in research, training and advice relating to design and management of natural and artificial sports surfaces.
Value and Tenure
The annual value of the scholarship is up to $3000. The scholarship is offered annually and the tenure is for a single academic year.

Eligibility
The scholarship is open to postgraduate students in one of the applied sciences at Massey University who are undertaking research into some aspect of turf culture or a related discipline.
Selection Criteria
The selection criterion is academic merit. Preference is given to applicants who have indicated they intend to pursue a career in turf management.
The University Scholarships Committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicants in seeking an equitable distribution of funds.
Selection Panel
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee.
The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
Conditions of the Scholarship
The bursary may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
