Up to four postdoctoral positions are available as part of the £10 M Centre for Leverhulme Research Centre for Functional Materials Design (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/leverhulme-research-centre). The long-term aim of this Centre is to change the way that we discover new materials by fusing methods such as robotics, AI, and computational prediction. We are particularly interested in candidates with skills in one or more of the following areas: (i) organic materials synthesis; (ii) solar fuels / photocatalysis; (iii) robotics & automation; (iv) computational chemistry; (v) supramolecular chemistry / crystallography; (vi) artificial intelligence, particularly as applied to the materials domain. We will provide the necessary training in any areas that are not covered by the successful candidate's previous experience. We have significant flexibility regarding start dates for these posts in 2021 and welcome candidates with independent research ideas. The projects will be supervised by Professor Andrew Cooper and will be based in the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Laboratory. You will have the opportunity to work in a unique interdisciplinary environment and to interact with a range of collaborators internationally, gaining experience that could launch a career in either academia or industry. The posts are available for 3 years.
