The Department of Applied Mathematics and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for several available positions as Postdoctoral Scholar-Employees. Selected candidates will be part of a team lead by Professor Rolandi, and Professor Teodorescu, in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, and by Professor Gomez in the Applied Mathematics department. Selected candidates will be assigned an immediate supervisor (Professor Rolandi, Professor Teodorescu, or Professor Gomez) at the time of appointment. The Postdoctoral Scholar will participate in research on bioelectronic devices, machine learning, and device integration related to tissue regeneration and wound healing. Duties will include designing and performing experiments and or models, writing papers and reports, and working alongside undergraduate and graduate students. This team will also collaborate with Professor Zhao and Professor Isseroff at UC Davis and Professor Levin at Tufts University.

The successful candidates will be scientists and engineers ready to work in a multidisciplinary environment as part of a large team with skills including microfabrication, microfluidics, ionics, microscopy, biological control, and machine learning.

UC Santa Cruz campus is located approximately 75 miles from San Francisco and 35 miles from the heart of Silicon Valley. The university comprises two thousand acres of forested hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay with one of the most visually spectacular settings in higher education. SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum annual salary rates are made based on the individual’s Experience Level, which is determined by the number of months of postdoctoral service at any institution. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related fields.

POSITION AVAILABLE
As soon as possible after initial review of the applications. Ph.D. must be in hand at time of the initial appointment.

MAXIMUM DURATION OF SERVICE IN A POSTDOCTORAL TITLE
Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are full-time; the initial appointment is for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Reappointment will be contingent upon positive performance review and availability of funding. The total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including postdoctoral service at any institution. Under limited circumstances, an exception to this limit may be considered, not to exceed a sixth year.
