Section for Plant Glycobiology , Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a postdoc position with start April 1st 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter for a period of 2 years. The postdoc position will be associated with the new project ”Engineering cellulose synthases to custom-build plant cell walls” headed by Assistant Professor Christopher Kesten. The project is funded as a Novo Nordisk foundation, NNF Emerging Investigator in Biotech. The project will be associated with the research group Cellulose Synthesis headed by Professor Staffan Persson.

The work aims to understand how certain proteins impact the cytoskeleton and cell wall structure. The research will range from protein characterization, visualization of protein activities in vivo and in vitro, analysing cytoskeletal characteristics, and elucidating how cell wall synthesis is connected to protein function.

You will work in a highly cross-disciplinary team that includes the full range of microscopy, proteomics, biochemistry and molecular biology. It is expected that you have a strong foundation in at least one of the areas of molecular & cell biology, biochemistry or biophysics. Together, we will generate an exciting environment to understand mechanisms that underpin how proteins regulate and arrange the cytoskeleton and impact cell wall synthesis. You will also be able to engage in supervision of students and lab technicians, as well as actively apply for funding.

Required Qualifications
