The Team “Microbiota, Gut and Inflammation” from the St Antoine Research Center (Sorbonne University, Inserm) in Paris is looking for a highly motivated post doc with expertise in Bioinformatics and Microbiome analysis.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research team headed by Pr Harry Sokol (http://en.crsa.fr/equipe-philippe-seksik.html , https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2914-1822 ) and exploring the role of gut microbiota-host interactions in health and diseases, with a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The applicant will interact with wet lab scientists including microbiologists, cell biologists, immunologists and biochemists, as well as with clinicians. The applicant will be in charge of several projects involving the analysis of human gut microbiota sequencing data as well as other types of Omics (transcriptomics and metabolomics notably). The applicant will also bring his/her expertise to other lab members as well as external collaborators.

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with a Ph.D., M.D., (or equivalent) with training in bioinformatics or computational biology and with a good experience in analyzing shotgun metagenomics data as well as other type of Omics data. Theoretical knowledge in microbiology and/or immunology is desirable.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong track record. We seek a candidate with strong computer programming and scripting skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently to complete data analysis.

The applicant should be proficient in written and spoken English.

The initial employment contract will be for up to 2 years with the possibility to prolong the contract up to 5 years and to apply for a permanent position.
