Description

Current voice and piano students are invited to apply for the Margaret Nickson Prize for Voice and Piano. The prize is awarded to the most outstanding performance by two students as singer and accompanist in biennial competition.

Margaret Nickson established this prize while a lecturer in singing at the University of Queensland in 1977. Following her death in 2002, the prize has been maintained by a biennial gift from former student and international operatic soprano Lisa Gasteen.

Heats - Thursday 9 September 2021, 6pm, Nickson Room

Finals - Friday 17 September 2021, 6pm, Nickson Room

Eligibility

Students enrolled in a course offered by the School of Music. Students who have been awarded the prize in one year may not enter the competition in a subsequent year in the same partnership. 

How to apply

A singer and an accompanist wishing to enter the competition in any year must lodge a joint application with the Head of School by the date set by the Head. 

To apply,  download the Margaret Nickson Prize for Voice and Piano application form. Email the completed application form to concerts@uq.edu.au for processing.
