Our Department
The Advanced Nuclear Research Centre is a Translational Research Centre with an international industrial membership base, established Research Council funding, access to advanced materials characterisation facilities and a focus on multi-disciplinary research supporting infrastructure and management of Nuclear Installations. As nuclear operators concurrently managing end-of-life and new-build challenges, we aim to broaden our research in decommissioning/waste management and new-build as priority areas for the University and its partners.
This presents exciting opportunities to establish and lead cutting-edge research with direct impact on environmental management and net zero goals. We are keen to hear from early career researchers with experience in the following areas:
The opportunity
We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience; an emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and research interests which align with this area of strategic priority – particularly if you already hold an external fellowship that can be transferred to us.

* Your Fellowship will normally be at lecturer level (exceptionally, at senior lecturer (Grade 9) (£52,560 - £59,135) where you have a strong track record in research leadership) for 5 years, with the expectation that you’ll meet our promotion criteria within that period and be transferred to senior lecturer (or, where you’ve been appointed as a senior lecturer, Reader) level.
