Our department
Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) is a UK leading research and teaching institute with a strong international presence. Our mission is to identify, develop and optimise new medicines to the benefit of patients. If your research focuses on any of the following areas, we’d love to hear from you:
Novel Drug Discovery is a key underpinning theme of the research strategy of the Institute focussing on key priority areas; cardiovascular biology, metabolism/diabetes, neuroscience, cancer and immunology/infection. We seek to combine mechanistic biology with novel discovery platform technologies as a means to identify new drug targets.
Biopharmaceuticals encompass efficient biopharmaceutical design processes, enhancing quality and efficacy, and reducing costs in the formulation and manufacturing processes.
We place an emphasis on collaborative multidisciplinary science. Interested candidates would have expertise in cutting edge technologies; drug screening, ‘omics, bioinformatics, drug delivery, formulation, production and manufacture.
The opportunity
We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience; an emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and research interests which align with this area of strategic priority – particularly if you already hold an external fellowship that can be transferred to us.
In keeping with our commitment to equality and diversity, we encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly those who can support our Athena SWAN activity, which inspires the advancement and representation of women in higher education. For more information on diversity and inclusion at Strathclyde, please see here.
* Your Fellowship will normally be at lecturer level (exceptionally, at senior lecturer (Grade 9) (£52,560 - £59,135) where you have a strong track record in research leadership) for 5 years, with the expectation that you’ll meet our promotion criteria within that period and be transferred to senior lecturer (or, where you’ve been appointed as a senior lecturer, Reader) level.
