Our Department

The Department of Politics applies a unique quantitative approach to its research, whether that research lies in the area of public opinion and polling, voting studies, the field of media analysis or the analysis of administrative statistics. We work closely with our affiliated centres in the School of Government and Public Policy, including the Centre for Energy Policy, and the European Policies Research Centre. This research strategy reflects our commitment to creating high-impact research that is valued by decision-makers.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an emerging researcher in the field of transport policy. The politics, governance and administration of transport potentially permits a large range of topics. Particularly relevant for us are researchers investigating strategies for encouraging sustainable green mobility within cities. Applicants interested in creating empirical models of choice and exit, using geospatial data, and developing of integrated policy models are likewise encouraged to apply.

The opportunity

We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience; an emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and research interests which align with this area of strategic priority – particularly if you already hold an external fellowship that can be transferred to us.

In keeping with our commitment to equality and diversity, we encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly those who can support our Athena SWAN activity, which inspires the advancement and representation of women in higher education.  For more information on diversity and inclusion at Strathclyde, please see here.

* Your Fellowship will normally be at lecturer level (exceptionally, at senior lecturer (Grade 9) (£52,560 - £59,135) where you have a strong track record in research leadership) for 5 years, with the expectation that you’ll meet our promotion criteria within that period and be transferred to senior lecturer (or, where you’ve been appointed as a senior lecturer, Reader) level.

For further details and to apply to be a ‘Strathclyder’ in Government and Public Policy, impress us with your research plan here.

Closing date: Sunday 21 February 2021
