The LUT School of Business and Management (LBM) is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join its research team on the AMBI (Analytics-based Management for Business and Manufacturing Industry) research platform. The research platform conducts interdisciplinary research and research projects that focus on analytics in management for business and the manufacturing industry. The post-doctoral researcher will work on research projects as a project manager and a researcher in collaboration with the LBM staff and researchers from other disciplines. The research team at LBM is led by Professor Pasi Luukka.

We are looking for a motivated person with a can-do attitude who is passionate about industry oriented problem solving by using various analytics methods. The person should have documented skills to solve difficult real-world problems related to topics such as meta-modelling, manufacturing optimisation, and predictive analytics. We value evidence of successful project work and international research collaboration. Evidence of teaching excellence and experience in the acquisition of competitive external funding (e.g. Business Finland, Academy of Finland, EU) are considered an advantage. Furthermore, we are looking for applicants with strong skills in research communication and dissemination (offline and online). Finnish language skills are considered an advantage. We are looking for a person with teamwork skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.

The post-doctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position, such as business analytics, operation research, applied mathematics, or computer science, the ability for independent scientific work and collaboration with industrial and societal stakeholders, and a solid publication record in international academic journals.

What we offer

The work will start with a six-month trial period on LUT’s Lappeenranta campus in April or May 2021 (negotiable). 

The salary is determined according to the salary system for university teaching and research personnel. The pay will include an individual pay component based on performance and competence. The monthly salary of post-doctoral researchers who have recently defended their doctoral thesis starts from 3 804 euros a month (the salary depends on qualifications and experience).
