The University of Luxembourg aspires to be one of Europe’s most highly regarded universities with a distinctly international and interdisciplinary character. It fosters the cross-fertilisation of research and teaching, is relevant to its country, is known worldwide for its research and teaching in targeted areas, and is establishing itself as an innovative model for contemporary European Higher Education. The University`s core asset is its well-connected world-class academic staff which will attract the most motivated, talented and creative students and young researchers who will learn to enjoy taking up challenges and develop into visionary thinkers able to shape society.

Within the University, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is a highly interdisciplinary research centre (IC), integrating experimental biology and computational biology approaches in order to develop the foundation of a future predictive, preventive and personalized medicine. The LCSB is currently involved in several projects in the area of digital medicine:

The Clinnova project, with a vision to unlock the power of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, aims to create a digital infrastructure bridging between the research and clinical environments. AI provides powerful computing methodologies that can extract heterogeneous and non-obvious associations and discriminations from complex data sets. Big data in combination with AI has the potential to change fundamentally the biomedical sector and to disrupt and innovate healthcare.

The Clinnova initiative aims to improve clinical decision-making through integrating health data as a central element in data-driven translational research. Such ambitious goal will include lots of challenges for data availability, integration and interoperability as well as for ethical and legal aspects. Therefore, Clinnova is a collaborative effort involving at the national level healthcare institutions, hospitals as well as research institutions, under the lead of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), as well as a number of international partners from the Greater Region. We have currently received funding to develop an extensive business plan for this large-scale and ambitious initiative. You will therefore work closely with partners at the LIH and other partner institutions to coordinate the development and implementation of the Clinnova initiative.

At the LCSB we are passionate about what we do. Because of our continued expansion, we seek qualified candidates who share our vision, values, and commitment for future medicine. The successful candidate will be proactive, reliable, diplomatic, and a team player. The ability to work in a fast-paced international academic environment with strong attention to detail is essential.

As a self-starter, working with minimum supervision, you will take ownership of your tasks and strive to provide a high level of service.
