Opportunity:

We’re looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Song Chen’s group to contribute to the group’s research in the development of novel single-cell multiomics methods and spatial technologies.

About Us:

Our group seeks to explore the cellular diversity during tissue development and disease progression using single-cell multi-omics sequencing technologies. By integrating multimodal information including epigenomics, transcriptomic and proteomics states from individual cells, our work aims to contribute to the understanding of the regulation principles of cellular interactions and cell-fate specification.

About the Project:

The primary objective of this project is to elucidate molecular mechanisms of signal transduction using chemical conjugation and NGS sequencing. Specifically, you will develop sequencing methods to construct multimodal information of cellular response to extracellular stimulus at a single cell level.

About You:

You will design and perform novel sequencing methods for multi-modal profiling of single cells. Your work will help shape the future research questions and methodology in the lab and you will be supported to develop your own research projects within the scope of the group’s interests. Our exposure to Human Cell Atlas projects at Sanger will also allow you to contribute to the applications on multiple types of tissues. You will be encouraged to participate in the design and planning of these projects.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cellular Genetics Programme, you will be joining a collaborative and cutting-edge environment. The Programme encourages everyone to network and to showcase their research, including at our weekly seminar series. In addition to support from the Sanger core areas of Scientific Operations, Management Operations and ICT, within the Programme the Cellular Genetics Operations teams provide comprehensive multidisciplinary support to help with everything from processing samples, delivering analysis pipelines, to assistance with fellowship applications. The Sanger Institute also supports PDFs by offering various training opportunities, chances to network, and has a PDF committee in place to ensure our PDFs are supported throughout their posts.

Due to Covid 19, the Wellcome Genome Campus closed for all but essential functions and facilities. As we begin restarting our science, we have implemented measures to support our staff on site including one way systems, enhanced cleaning and increased facilities for handwashing. You can learn more about our campus and our return to research here. This role will require working on site in the lab predominately. Full details of working on site can be discussed during the interview stage.

Application Process:

Please apply with your CV and Cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
