The Faculty of Law at the University of Lapland invites applications for the position of

Professor of Welfare Law for a fixed term.

The Faculty of Law at the University of Lapland is responsible for the education of one fourth of the lawyers in Finland. Our students follow the renewed degree structure, which combines multiform modes of study and independent study. Our teaching is now more practical than ever, without neglecting the theoretical foundations of the discipline. Our faculty studies law and justice comprehensively, addressing a range of different sectors of society. Our research is carried out in collaboration with the local stakeholders and international partners. We offer an international academic host institution equipped with excellent research facilities and infrastructure.

Approximately 140 new students are admitted to the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree programmes of the faculty each year, and a varying number of students is admitted to pursue postgraduate studies.

The Academy of Finland granted funding for the University of Lapland for the purpose of strengthening the university’s profile in the area of Welfare Law. Based on the funding granted, the position of Professor of Welfare Law is a fixed-term appointment of 2 to 3 years.

The Salary System of Finnish Universities comprises a task-specific salary component based on the level of job demands, and a performance-specific component of the salary based on personal work performance. The position of Professor is based on the levels 8 to 10 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish Universities. For Professor, the task-specific salary component is 4 824,18 € – 6 149,88 € per month. The personal performance component is at the maximum 50% of the task-specific salary component.
