The Institute of Convergence “Language, Communication and the Brain” (ILCB, https://www.ilcb.fr/) offers:

2 PhD grants (3 years) on topics that fall within the area of language, communication, brain and modelling.

The ILCB is located in Aix-en-Provence, Avignon and Marseille, and includes several top research laboratories in linguistics, psychology, cognitive neuroscience, medicine, computer science, and mathematics.

Interested candidates must contact one or two PhD supervisors amongst the members of the ILCB (https://www.ilcb.fr/members/ilcb-fellows/). All projects must be supervised by at least one member of the ILCB. A list of potential supervisors and projects can be found here: https://www.ilcb.fr/call-for-applications/

Together with the supervisor(s), the candidates must write a 3-year PhD project. Priority is given to interdisciplinary projects that involve two different laboratories of the institute and to co-directed projects.

The application should contain:

1. A full description of the PhD project (~ 5 pages):

d. Scientific context/state of the art

e. Objectives and hypotheses

f. Methodology

g. Expected results

h. Brief statement about the relevance of the project for the ILCB

2. CV and master degree grades (if available)

3. Letter of motivation

4. Letter of recommendation

Deadline for submission: April 30, 2021
Auditions: May 15, 2021 (international candidates may be interviewed via zoom)
Start: October 1, 2021
Monthly salary: 1 685€ (1 368€ net) for a period of 3 years
