A Post-Doctoral Research position is available in the Decentralized and Distributed Systems (DEDIS) lab at EPFL led by Prof. Bryan Ford in Lausanne, Switzerland. The DEDIS Lab creates scalable decentralized technologies designed to empower people by protecting their security, privacy, and personal freedoms in the digital world, and by facilitating human-centric self-organization and digital democracy. We focus not only on building systems that push the state-of-the-art in research, but also on deploying them as usable, documented, open-source contributions and technology transfer projects with industry partners. Our systems are actively deployed in numerous industrial and academic environments.

A sample of topics the lab is currently working on includes (but is not restricted to):

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Post-Doctoral Researcher’s primary responsibility will be to carry out world-class research broadly within the DEDIS lab’s domain of interest, and to publish in the top-tier international venues. As part of this responsibility, the postdoctoral researcher will co-supervise and work closely with PhD students, undergraduate and masters students, other senior researchers, and software engineers within the DEDIS lab. Opportunities for external collaboration with both academic and industry partners at other institutions will be plentiful, and promising collaborations with top external colleagues will be encouraged.

Furthermore, a strong involvement is expected in the coordination and management of various other research aspects of the lab’s activities and projects, potentially including:
