We are looking for a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher with a successful PhD degree and outstanding references and experience in the area of molecular biology, transgenic mouse models (cre-lox system), general animal experimentation, as well as a good background in cell biology and biochemistry. The group of Professor Jürg Gertsch (www.gertschgroup.com) at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (https://www.ibmm.unibe.ch/) investigates the role of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) for neuropsychiatric and inflammatory conditions with a strong interest in drug discovery. In collaboration with our spin-off Synendos Therapeutics, we offer a postdoctoral position aiming at establishing novel assays and designing a knock-in mouse model related to endocannabinoid membrane transport and its investigation in stress-related behavioral paradigms.

Our lab uses chemical biology, LC-MS/MS analytics, molecular biology and biochemical methods and behavioral mouse models. The ambitious candidate with a genuine interest in basic research and transgenic mouse models will lead the project together with a PhD student and another postdoc and be part of a bigger team working on the ECS. Fluent spoken and written English are prerequisites and German is a plus. The position is available immediately (Jan 2021) for the duration of 3 years. This position is funded by the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse) through the University of Bern which pays competitive salaries and puts strong emphasis on equal opportunities for career development. Due to the current pandemic, overseas applications will be given less priority and applications from EU will be favored.

How to apply: Please send your application, which should include a motivation letter, CV and references  (letters  /  contact information of three references) by email to: Mrs. Barbara Järmann (info@ibmm.unibe.ch). Successful applicants will be invited to talk to Prof. Jürg Gertsch and the group members and visit the lab. Applications will be accepted until the vacancy is filled.
