Welcome to Hochschule Osnabrück, the largest University of Applied Sciences in the German state of Lower Saxony. We offer more than 100 practice-oriented study programmes in three locations, have an impressive educational and research record and provide excellent opportunities for personal development. Our students value the academic and professional expertise of our faculty, our international networks and modern university management. To fulfil our mission, we are looking for individuals with innovative ideas and life-long curiosity

The Faculty of Business Management and Social Sciences invites applications to be appointed by the earliest date possible for the tenured position of

PROFESSOR OF PUBLIC LAW AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (W2)

Ref.no. WiSo 390- P0221

We are looking for a personality with profound legal knowledge at national and international level in line with the denomination. The applicant should have a corresponding relevant national or international degree in law or degree with a legal focus and a strong orientation towards the denomination, preferably the 1st and 2nd state law examinations with a grade of at least “satisfactory” in the upper range. Additionally, the applicant should have the necessary experience and skills to make meaningful contributions to the realisation and further development of the faculty's "IDA strategy" in the fields of internationalisation, digitalisation and application orientation. Applicants are therefore expected to be willing and able to represent public law in administration-relevant areas within the scope of teaching and applied research. In addition to General Administrative Law, various areas of Special Administrative Law should be covered. Applicants should have the necessary potential and a discernible willingness to design and conduct classes in Special Administrative Law in the English language. It must also be evident – e.g. through relevant publications – that the incumbent is able to provide (applied) research services and to continue this publication activity within the scope of the professorship.

Applicants should show that they are able to meet the requirements of digitalised public administration in their specialist areas.
In addition to the required specialist knowledge, applicants must have relevant professional experience (national or international) in the application of public law – particularly German General and Special Administrative Law – in public administration or public enterprises, in (internal or external) legal advice to public administration or public enterprises and/or the judiciary. Especially the Public Administration and General Administration degree programmes, in which future administrative staff of the State of Lower Saxony and its municipalities are trained, require mandatory relevant application-related knowledge, skills and experience of the successful candidate. The employment requirements, moreover, are in accordance with section 25 of the NHG (law governing universities in Lower Saxony).

We are looking forward to an above-average qualified personality who will contribute to our teaching and research in an interdisciplinary manner. You will support us in our self-administration and ongoing development of the university as well as in our international orientation – e.g. by conducting classes in the English language or cooperating with universities abroad. Motivated students, exciting projects and committed colleagues are waiting for you! The successful applicant will be employed by the Stiftung Fachhochschule Osnabrück either as a civil servant or as an employee. Please refer to our homepage www.hs-osnabrueck.de/stellenangebote for details on formal prerequisites.
