KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering

The sixth generation of cellular networks (6G) will be equipped with intelligent, programmable and real-time controllable surfaces. These surfaces will enable to shape the wireless propagation environment and to interact with the cellular infrastructure and user devices. Understanding, analyzing, dimensioning and optimizing these entirely new types of wireless networks require new ways of thinking and integrating new and well-proven analysis methods, including machine-learning techniques.

This project is part of European MSCA MetaWireless, within which the doctoral student spends some periods of the education abroad and/or in an industrial environment. During this project, the student has the opportunity to blend deep theoretical studies with practical feasibility studies together with international academic and industry partners, including Ericsson in Kista, Sweden. The Division of Decision and Control Systems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science host the project.

Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Adj. Prof. Gabor Fodor
