Professorship in “Social Pedagogy and its Didactics”

(legal basis: W 2 LBesG NRW; § 36 HG NRW).

The position will be based in the Department of Educational Science within the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences.

The position is to be taken up as soon as possible.

Expectations:
We are looking for a personality who represents Social Pedagogy and its Didactics in its full spectrum. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge in Didactics of Social Pedagogy and in at least two of the following fields:

-         Research and Teaching in Social Pedagogy and Childhood Studies

-         Child Welfare and Youth Welfare

-         Users of Social Services

-         Inclusion as Task of the Society

-         Current Conditions of Education (Erziehung und Bildung)

A main focus of the professorship will be teaching in educational science (Bachelor and different Master Programs) with a main focus on social pedagogy and its didactics: BA of Educational Sciences and MA Berufliche Fachrichtung Sozialpädagogik (Social Pedagogy as a school subject).

The appointee will be committed to the research and the teaching in the Department of Educational Science and will be engaged in interdisciplinary collaboration in the Faculty, the University and beyond. He / she will be committed to the further development of research and teaching in educational science, and will be especially responsible for the new programs “Berufliche Fachrichtung” (BA and MA starting in Winter 2020).

Requirements:
Besides pedagogical suitability, which has to be proven by appropriate previous experience or, in exceptional cases, demonstrated by excellent performance during the appointment procedure, the applicant is expected to have a particular aptitude for scientific work substantiated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Further scientific achievements must be demonstrated additionally and will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively during the appointment procedure. They include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.

The successful candidate is expected to actively support academic autonomy at the university.
