The Department of Archivistics, Library and Information Science currently has available one PhD Fellow position affiliated with the PhD program in Library and Information Science, which currently has around 15 research fellows.

Profile

For this position, PhD fellow applicants can choose a topic related to one of the department’s four research groups:

The department is a member of the international iSchools network, which means that the study programs and research should focus on the relationship between people, information/culture and technology. It is a prerequisite that the PhD project should do the same.

Applicants must prepare a PhD project with research questions and methods for data collection and data analysis. The project proposal should state how the project is relevant to one or more of the research groups at the department.

The duration of the PhD fellowship is three years.

When assessing applicants, the quality of the project proposal and the relevance of the proposal to the PhD program’s research area and at least one of the research groups at the department will be emphasized, as well as the quality of the applicant’s master thesis. The proposal must indicate that the project will realistically lead to a doctoral degree within the three-year period.

The proposal should consist of a maximum of 10 pages and must include the following elements:

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, job title and position code. State salary wage scale 54, 482 200 NOK per year.
