At the Institute of Solid State Electronics of the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Wien, the position of a University Professor for the specialist field of “Optoelectronic Materials” with permanent (full-time) contractual employment is to be filled as of 1 June 2022.

This is a professorship regulated by § 98 of the 2002 Universities Act (UG).

The position as a professor for Optoelectronic Materials has been allocated in TU Wien’s development plan to the research areas “Quantum Physics and Quantum Technologies“ as well as “Materials and Matter”.

The faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is one of eight faculties of TU Wien. It is active in five research areas: Photonics, Micro- and Nanoelectronics, Telecommunications, System- and Automation Engineering and Energy-Technologies and Energy-Systems. The advertised professorship is located at the Institute of Solid State Electronics, which is active in Microelectronices, Optoelectronics and Semiconductor Technology, with a focus on Nanoscale Photonic and Electronic Devcies.

The mission of the advertised professorship will be to extend existing material groups, to develop new material systems und to devise new concepts of how to combine materials from the optical and electronic domains in order to develop new nanoscale devices. The professorship shall collaborate with research at the faculty in Nanoelectronics, Photonics, Sensor Technology but also with the faculties of Physics and Technical Chemistry.

The work area of the new professorship shall be optoelectronic materials with a focus in at least one of the following fields:

In addition to research a University Professor at TU Wien will have obligations in teaching (German and English) in the bachelor, master and Phd programmes; participation in the management of the institute and the faculty is also required.

The teaching duties include basic undergraduate courses in “Semiconductor Physcis” as well as special master-level lectures such as “Materials for Microelectronics, Photonics and Microsystems Technology” and “Process Technology” and “Semiconductor Lasers”.

Classification in the A1 category of the collective bargaining agreement for employees of universities and a full-time minimum salary of EUR 74.503,8 gross annual is provided for. In addition, a company pension scheme (pension fund and employee benefit fund) will be set up, so that personnel benefits will increase by a total of 11.53%. A higher salary depending on qualifications and experience is categorically a subject of appointment negotiations.
