Description

The purpose of the Bursary is to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds studying veterinary science.

The bursary was established in 2018 by a bequest from Edna Dorothy Griffiths, to assist students from a disadvantaged background studying veterinary science at The University of Queensland.

Eligibility

An applicant is eligible for the award of a Bursary if the applicant: 

  • submits an application for the Bursary by the closing date for applications; and
  • is enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) program, the Master of Veterinary Science program, or an HDR project based on veterinary science owned by the School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland.

Please complete and submit the Roslyn Griffiths Veterinary Science Bursary online application form by 12th May 2021 at 11.59 PM AEST. Please ensure you've read the prompts in the application form and attach all relevant supporting documents before submitting your application. No late or incomplete scholarship applications will be considered.

All submissions will be kept confidential and only used for the purposes of assessing the scholarship. 

Selection criteria

The Bursary is awarded to the applicant/s showing greatest merit, as demonstrated by: 

  • strength of personal statement addressing the academic benefit of the Bursary support;
  • evidence of disadvantage which includes, but is not limited to, the following: 
    • financial need or hardship; or
    • being from a Rural or Regional Area; or
    • being the first in their family to attend university; or
    •  having a medical condition or disability or being the primary carer for a family member with a medical condition or disability. 

Scholarship value : At least $2000
