A post-doctoral research position funded by a prestigious European Research Council Synergy Grant is available immediately in the team of Dr. Salvatore Valitutti at the Cancer Research Center (CRCT) of Toulouse, France. The research is based on a dynamic international collaboration with the University of Oxford (UK), the University of Siena (Italy) and the University of Saarland (Germany).

The specific aim of the project is to define the molecular mechanisms of tumor cell resistance to cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) attack at the immunological synapse with the purpose of enhancing CTL efficacy in tumor eradication and improving the efficacy of immunotherapies in cancer patients. The research will focus on harnessing the recently described Supra-Molecular Attack Particles released by CTL (Balint et al. Science 2020), as powerful molecular weapons to overcome tumor resistance to cytotoxicity. The research will be performed on clinically relevant samples using latest-generation imaging techniques.

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong background in immunology and is interested in studies related to molecular mechanisms of cytotoxicity at the immunological synapse. Experience with human immunology is desirable as well as excellent capabilities with primary cell culture and/or strong expertise in imaging techniques. As the successful applicant will be part of a highly collaborative international team, strong interpersonal skills and English fluency are considered assets.

The CRCT is a newly built INSERM, CNRS, Toulouse University research center which specializes in multidisciplinary translational research including oncology, hematology, and immunology. The center is located in a modern biotechnology campus and is adjacent to the Clinical Cancer Center of Toulouse (IUCT Oncopole) allowing CRCT scientists to work in close cooperation with clinicians. The CRCT hosts 18 highly successful research teams and eight core facilities grouped within a Technology Center (website: https://www.crct-inserm.fr/en/).

The applicant should have a PhD in immunology or cell biology or biophysics and a solid publication record.
