The Richard Spenser Hopkins Prize in Civil Engineering was established in 2004 in memory of Richard Spenser Hopkins, a Civil Engineer and Past President of Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland.
In 2019, Alumni Friends determined to replace the prize, and to establish an endowed undergraduate scholarship under the Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative to support undergraduate students studying engineering who are facing financial hardship.
The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and support a final year engineering student studying at The University of Queensland who is facing financial hardship in any field of the civil engineering discipline.
An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship, if the applicant:
