Established in 2006 in memory of Cecilie Anne Sloane, a former tutor and lecturer in the Department of English at The University of Queensland, and maintained by the income from a perpetual endowment fund setup by a gift from her brother-in-law, RF (Ron) Diamond, and her sister, HM (Helen) Diamond.
The purpose of the scholarship is to enable a Higher Degree by Research candidate to undertake English language creative writing research within The University of Queensland.
The scholarship is open to PhD candidates researching in the field of creative writing.

The scholar must, not more than 3 months after the scholarship ends, submit to the selection committee a full and final written report, suitable for circulation within the university, of the progress and outcome of the research undertaken during the tenure of the scholarship.
