Education builds one’s intellect, ability, and personality development. Keeping the importance of education in mind,  the University of York is providing the BA English Widening Participation Bursary.

The bursary is open to all UK and international students. The sponsorship will be given towards the BA in English Widening programme and will cover the cost of the second term of the programme

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Students from the UK and other EU countries are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: BA in English literature programme at York is eligible to apply for.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be newly-enrolled undergraduate students of English Literature (Q300) in the academic year 2021/22.

The candidates that will win the bursary will receive funding towards the second term of the programme undertaken at York.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The applicants can apply to the University of York either through UCAS or via the StudentRoom. Eligible applicants will be considered.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:

  • CV
  • Evidence of financial support
  • Academic reference
  • Evidence of financial support

  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must hold an international diploma or equivalent to get into a bachelor programme at York.
  • Language Requirement: The students are required to provide the following test results to the university as English language proficiency proof:
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic and Indicator)
  • C1 Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English)
  • C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
  • PTE Academic
  • TOEFL IBT (internet-based and special home edition) (TOEFL MyBest score is not acceptable for meeting the English language requirement)
  • Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE) III
  • GCSE/IGCSE/O level English Language (as a first or second language) with Grade C or grade 4
  • Duolingo
