Many first-generation college students go through the entire college process alone. And when they do make it through those doors, they rarely have anyone whose struggle they can relate to.

Burnout is almost inevitable for college students to face at some point in time, but it can hit even deeper for first-generation students that lack strong support systems.

The Finesse Your Education’s “The College Burnout” Scholarship is designed to raise awareness about burnout while giving students a chance to reflect on their college experience for the past year.

The scholarship is loosely based on “The College Dropout” by Kanye West. To apply, students will create their own “album” by:

Listing 5 to 7 songs that describe the “vibes/mood” of their college experience so far
Creating a name for the playlist that captures this experience
Bonus points: They can also create their own artist name

Identity: First-generation minority student
