ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government's flagship international educational and cultural exchange program, creating connections in a complex and changing world. Led by the U.S. government in partnership with 160 countries worldwide, Fulbright builds lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries around the world, building mutual understanding between nations, advancing knowledge across communities, and improving lives.

There are two different Fulbright graduate scholarships available for Tunisian students. One provides successful candidates with a maximum of two years' funding toward a master's degree. The other provides graduate-level students enrolled in doctoral programs the opportunity to conduct research in U.S. institutions of higher education for one academic year in the context of cultural and academic exchange.

Note that students cannot apply for programs with clinical requirements such as dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, nursing. Fields such as public health and nursing administration are permitted.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

This program is for students who are about to graduate, recent graduates, and professionals from diverse social, economic, academic, and professional backgrounds. A competitive applicant should have an excellent academic record, strong English language skills, and the commitment to return to Tunisia upon completion of the program. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously studied in the United States.

All recipients of a Fulbright grant must return to their home country or location for at least two years upon completion or termination of the scholarship. They will be ineligible for a U.S.-immigrant visa until the two-year home residency requirement is complete. 

APPLICANTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING A MASTER’S DEGREE MUST

  • Be a Tunisian citizen and be able to attend in-person interviews in late July/early August 2022.

  • Reside in country throughout the application, selection, and placement process.

  • Have the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree (four years of post-secondary study); Applicants with a license degree must additionally have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Be proficient in English and/or able to attend a Long Term English (LTE) program prior to the start of study program.

  • Possess relevant academic credentials in their fields. See above.

  • If interested in an MBA, applicants must have a minimum of 2 years work experience.

  • Interest in learning about American history and society, as well as sharing knowledge of Tunisian culture.

  • U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (green card holders) are not eligible for the program. 

PHD STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR ONE-YEAR DOCTORAL RESEARCH MUST

  • Be a Tunisian citizen and be able to attend in-person interviews in late July/early August 2022.

  • Reside in country throughout the application, selection, and placement process.

  • Be enrolled in PhD program in Tunisia and have started working on their dissertations.

  • Be proficient in English and/or able to attend a Long Term English (LTE) program prior to the start of the study program.

  • Possess relevant academic credentials in their fields. See above.

  • Interest in learning about American history and society, as well as sharing knowledge of Tunisian culture.

  • U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (green card holders) are not eligible for the program. 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Complete the application online.

  • Please make sure to choose 2023-2024 Cycle and answer all questions accurately and completely.

  • Carefully write the essays, which are key components of the application. Each essay must be a minimum of 300 to a maximum of 600 words. The selection committee will review these essays closely.

THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED TO APPLY: 

  1. TOEFL iBT, ITP, or IELTS score report if available.

  2. A certified true copy of each original post-secondary transcript and diploma starting from Baccalaureate.

  3.  A CV/ resume updated in English.

  4. A copy of passport (if available).

  5. 3 recommendation letters.
