Institution: Alabama GI and Dependents Educational Benefit Act
Purpose: To support students whose parent/spouse is a veteran with service-related disabilities or who died while in service.
Eligibility: Applicants must be the children, stepchildren, spouse or un-remarried widow(er) of a veteran with service-related disabilities rated at 20 percent or more; whose parent/spouse died with such a rating; whose parent/spouse was a POW; whose parent/spouse was declared an MIA or whose parent/spouse died during active military service in the line of duty. The scholarship pays up to five years of full tuition at any Alabama state-supported institution of higher learning including mandatory textbooks. The scholarship also covers 18 months of technical training including mandatory textbooks at any Alabama state-supported technical school.
