Vancouver Institute of Media Arts is delighted to announce the 50% Scholarships for Ukrainian refugees seeking education abroad. The scholarships are being awarded for programs commencing in the academic year of 2022-2023.

Ukrainian nationals who are fleeing their country into Canada under the CUEAT program are exclusively offered 50% scholarships for one-year diploma programs starting September 6, 2022, at VanArts. Applicants will be provided 50% of the current tuition for international students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Ukrainian nationals can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for one-year diploma programs at VanArts.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be identified as Ukrainian refugees.
  • The applicants must be starting their programme in September 2022.

Offered Benefits

The winning Ukrainian refugee students will be provided a 50% tuition fee scholarship toward the one-year diploma program undertaken at VanArts.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Interested students must apply online for admission. All eligible applicants will be considered automatically.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Portfolio
  • Letter of intent
  • Resume
  • Proof of age
  • Transcripts
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must meet the admission requirements of their programme.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 6.0
  • TOEFL – 68 for iBT (internet-based test)
  • TOEFL – 190 for CBT (computer-based test)
  • TOEFL – 520 for PBT (paper-based test)
  • TOEIC – 700
  • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) – a minimum level achieved B2
  • Common European Framework (CEF) – the minimum level of B2 or equivalent
  • Pearson Test of Academic English – 54
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – 60
  • Pre-Arrival Learning English Course -Vital English: Assessed higher than or completion of VanArts Intermediate Level 2
