The preliminary proposal will outline the following items (within five single-spaced pages) which will be assessed by the selection panel (comprising members of the Alliance Control Group).

  • What is the problem you seek to address?
  • Based on your knowledge of the current state of digital health in Queensland, why is this problem critical to address now?
  • Is the subproject you wish to conduct likely to be overarching or transferrable? (Please see the descriptions provided earlier).  Why?
  • Who could be your supervisors on the subproject?
    • To show feasibility, we encourage you to try to identify advisors from at least two of the following three areas:  a clinical discipline (from either Medicine or Health and Behavioural Science), a business/economics discipline (from the UQ Business School, School of Economics, or the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health), and an information technology related discipline (e.g., School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) or Maths and Physics).  If you are unsure of specific supervisors at the time of your application, you may contact the Project Manager (Vilma Simbag v.simbag@uq.edu.au) for temporary suggestions for the purpose of your application.
  • What benefits would your subproject offer if conducted successfully?
  • How does your track record indicate that you can conduct the subproject successfully?

Selection criteria:

Your application will be assessed on a competitive basis.

We take into account your:

  • previous academic record
  • publication record
  • honours and awards
  • employment history

A background or knowledge of healthcare is not essential, but it will be beneficial. It’s importance will depend on the student’s proposed topic.

You will need to submit a preliminary proposal as described under the 'Eligibility' section.
