Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from underrepresented groups (including black and ethnic minority students, those with a disability, caring responsibilities, refugee status, or from low participation areas) are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or Natural Sciences subject offered by the university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Applicants to any of our undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or Natural Sciences, are invited to apply.
  • Priority will be given to applicants from underrepresented groups (including black and ethnic minority students, those with a disability, caring responsibilities, refugee status, or from low participation areas).
  • Bursary holders will have the chance to work voluntarily with current Women in Science ambassadors in the School of Science to further women’s engagement in science. Each bursary holder will be mentored by a senior woman staff member in the School, who will guide their development throughout their course. There will be an opportunity to become a paid student helper.
  • Applicants are asked to write a statement (ca. 500 words) outlining their interest in science or maths, what they think can be done to improve recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented groups in science, and what the bursary will help them achieve while at university.

Offered Benefits

The School of Science will provide an amount of £1000 per annum to women applicants to assist them in pursuing their studies at Loughborough and help them develop as future scientists working in industry or academia.

  • How to Apply: Candidates can apply for undergraduate admission at the university. After enrolling, applicants must complete the online application form for this award.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants are asked to write a statement (ca. 500 words) outlining their interest in science or maths, what they think can be done to improve recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented groups in science, and what the bursary will help them achieve while at university.

  • Language Requirement: Students must verify their English proficiency by completing their English proficiency requirements.
