The World Food Programme is always looking for talented, motivated and enthusiastic students from around the world. An internship at WFP is a great opportunity to acquire practical work experience while contributing to the goal of reaching Zero Hunger

The Security Division invites qualified candidates to apply for the internship program. This opportunity is available in the Division’s Policy and Enabling Services Section.

The intern will perform the following duties:

  • Conduct research as required for the policy review and development
  • Support the review of official documents, guidelines, concepts
  • Attend virtual meetings and keep a record of key points discussed.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and background documents
  • Support other tasks as required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university.
  • Must have attended university courses in the past 12 months.
  • Must have computer literacy in standard software applications.
  • Must have an excellent command of English.

Offered Benefits

  • A monthly stipend of up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month. (Depending on the duty station of assignment.)
  • Reimbursement of travel tickets for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • The opportunity to understand the contribution of the Security Division to achieving that mandate through its different functions of operations, policy, and enabling and the front office.
  • The opportunity to understand WFP and the contribution it makes to saving lives and changing lives.
