Founded in 1937, The Tax Foundation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank located in Washington, D.C. They regularly work with policymakers on both sides of the aisle to help fix problems in national and state tax codes. At the Tax Foundation, interns work on substantive projects that have a real impact on national, state, and global tax reform debates and education. These programs teach interns sound tax policy and allow them to apply that to public policies and tax literacy. Multiple internship tracks exist: Federal Policy; State; Global; Development; TaxEDU; External Affairs. Interns gain firsthand experience working on these teams and will also hear from expert speakers on a variety of topics during the internship program. This internship will also provide significant exposure to every department at the Tax Foundation to build a well-rounded internship experience. The Tax Foundation is happy to work with outside fellowship programs to host interns and to assist in arranging for school credit. Full-time summer interns will be compensated at $15 per hour. Tax Foundation staff operate on a hybrid schedule, which includes several days in the D.C. office each week. Preference will be given to interns working in the D.C. metro area. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, with preference given to earlier applications.
