The Auckland Library Heritage Trust John Stacpoole Summer Scholarship is funded by the Auckland Library Heritage Trust to honor the contributions of foundation trustee John Stacpoole. John Stacpoole, a renowned New Zealand heritage architect, historian, and bibliophile, played a pivotal role in preserving and restoring historic buildings in Auckland and Northland.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is applicable to research in any subject offered by the University of Auckland.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be enrolled in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland in a relevant program (BA, BA(Hons), or PGDipArts) in History.
  • Have completed at least two years of equivalent full-time study in an undergraduate degree.
  • Have applied for a University of Auckland Summer Research Scholarship in the Faculty of Arts.
  • Maintain a Scholarships grade point average (GPA) of at least 6.00 (5.50 for M?ori or Pacific applicants) in the two most recent years of full-time study.

Offered Benefits

The scholarship provides financial assistance of $6,750, paid as a fortnightly stipend, within the period of November to February inclusive.

Application Process

Interested candidates should apply for admission to the Summer Research Scholarships Programme and enroll in the Summer Research course, SUMRESCH 301. They are expected to conduct a research project of approximately 10 weeks duration (400 hours) under the supervision of an academic staff member.
