Last year, photographers from 155 countries and territories submitted their favorite shots – 48,000 of them – to our 15th Annual Photo Contest. The winners, announced here, stood out to our photo team as the most striking and memorable. From Thong Huu’s Grand-Prize-winning capture of a weekly market in Vietnam to Dan Fenstermacher's action shot of wrestlers in San Jose, California, these images captured moments in time for Smithsonian.com readers around the globe.
