PhD Scholarship within The Topic of Inequality

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant PhD scholarship focusing on research within the topic of Inequality. The PhD scholarship is affiliated with CBS’ newly established Inequality Platform and will be based at the Department of Business and Politics. DBP is a leading international department that is at the forefront of research at the interface between business and politics in Denmark, the European Union and beyond. DBP scholars set research agendas in issues related to global challenges that affect business and politics, such as technological disruption, inequality, and sustainability. Research topics include business studies, global value chains and global wealth chains, innovation, economic development, comparative political economy, European Union, public policy, philanthropy and civil society. DBP’s research work often serves as a point of reference for think-tanks, policymakers, business organizations and the media. The applicants’ profile must fit with one of the core research themes of the department: political economy, comparative and European public policy, and civil society. Read more about the research themes: https://www.cbs.dk/en/research/departments-and-centres/department-of-business-and-politics/research.

Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate, graduate and doctoral teaching. DBP teaches, for example, in the International Business and Politics (BSc and MSc), European Business (BSC), and Business Administration and Sociology (BSC) programmes. Applications on any research area falling broadly within the theme of Inequality are encouraged.

High priority will be given to applicants with high grades from their universities. Applicants should have completed (or be near the completion of) a Masters degree in one of the social sciences (for instance, economics, political science, sociology, political economy, development studies, business studies, or related disciplines).  The three-year PhD programme at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors. Research training courses are an important part of the programme. The programme is highly international, and the candidate is expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student.

CBS PhD graduates are held in high esteem not only in academia and research institutions but also in government and business where their research qualifications are increasingly demanded. One-third of CBS PhD graduates go on to employment outside universities and public research institutions. Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness, and relevance of its teaching and research programmes. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organization of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities).
