PhD Scholarships at the Department of Operations Management

The Department of Operations Management at Copenhagen Business School invites applications for up to three vacant PhD scholarships within the areas of the Department.

The research activities at the Department span across five academic research areas: Supply Chain Management (design and management of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms); Performance Management (design, use, and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation Management (deployment of management tools and mechanisms to connect technology, organization and markets); Operations Management (relation between production, organization, and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Managerial Economics (decision modelling around pricing, costing, production planning and forecasting). The Department of Operations Management supplies teaching and supervision to undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes in economics and business administration.  It is the ambition of the Department to develop research and teaching in close connection with practice.
PhD projects and candidates that want to pursue interdisciplinary research within the areas of the Department are welcomed. Competencies and skills from empirical research by any method are an advantage, as is the ability to bridge to other research areas of the Department.
More description of the Department, research areas and projects can be found on cbs.dk http://www.cbs.dk/en/research/departments-and-centres/department-of-operations-management. Applications will be assessed on the basis of the quality of the proposed project, as well as the quality of the candidate. Only project proposals that clearly fall within the areas of the Department will be considered.

The three-year PhD programme at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The programme is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student. See the CBS homepage for more information about the PhD programme, http://uk.cbs.dk/phd. It is also required that the applicant shows an interest in joining the Department’s research environment, see http://www.cbs.dk/en/research/departments-and-centres/department-of-operations-management

CBS PhD graduates are held in high esteem not only in academia and research institutions but also in government and business where their research qualifications are increasingly demanded. One-third of CBS PhD graduates go on to employment outside universities and public research institutions.
Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programmes. Candidates who wish to join should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organisation of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities).

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.
