The summer course on Geometry aims to cover a spectrum of modern geometry as broad as possible, as well their interaction with neighboring fields such as logic, Lie and number theory. Each day of the summer school is dedicated to one of these subjects. The target audience is mathematics students with at least two years of mathematics at bachelor level, including basic topology and algebra.
The summer course on Geometry is organized by the Utrecht Geometry Centre.
Geometry is the theory of space. "Space is a multi-faceted concept: it refers equally well to the phase space of a classical mechanical system, the differential-geometrical space of general relativity or the operator-theoretic space of quantum mechanics from physics, as to the internet as a huge graph of connections.

Dr. Johan van de Leur
Mathematics students with at least two years of mathematics at bachelor level, including basic topology and algebra (groups/rings) or physics students with a basic knowledge of mathematics including basic topology and algebra (groups/rings).
This course aims to cover a spectrum of modern geometry, such as:
symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, number theory, logic, Lie theory and possible applications in physics. Each day of the summer school is dedicated to one of these subjects. Lectures alternate with problem sessions. Please find the full programme in the day-to-day programme (PDF) above.
Lectures and problem sessions in the morning and afternoon.
