MITACS Accelerate is a continuous and open training program throughout the year. This program allows graduate students from more than 50 universities around the world to apply their research expertise in business. During this program, the trainees will spend half of the training in working with the industrial partner. This program is available to all disciplines. The projects cover a wide range of areas including: manufacturing, technical innovation, business, information technology, social sciences, design and others.

Benefits of hands-on training:
MITACS Accelerate Internship offers:

  • Allow participants to apply their skills in a non-academic environment as well as expand their professional network.
  • Salary starts from $ 10,000 per four months.
  • Provide an opportunity for trainees to build their CVs and develop their research under the supervision of fellow researchers.

Duties of trainees:
Trainees are expected to:

  • Spend about 50% of the internship with the academic institution and 50% with the partner organization.
  • Send a final report summarizing the project's outputs and results.
  • Comply with the Accelerate Terms and Conditions.

Eligibility requirements:
This program is available for any of the following categories:

  • Students enrolled in the undergraduate or graduate program in all disciplines at Canadian universities.
  • Full-time graduate students in selected Mitacs partner countries (Saudi Arabian partner country).
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents and foreign students over the age of 18.
  • Companies and non-profit organizations operating in Canada.
  • Start-up companies owned by trainees under the Accelerate Entrepreneur initiative.
  • Profit companies operating outside Canada.

For Mitacs Accelerating:
Mitacs is a national non-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for 19 years. The organization works with 60 universities and 4,000 companies as well as the federal and provincial governments. It seeks to build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada.
