About the National Bank of Egypt
The National Bank of Egypt is the oldest commercial bank in Egypt. It was established on June 25, 1898 with a capital of one million pounds sterling. Throughout its long history, the functions and roles of the National Bank of Egypt have continuously evolved to cope with the various economic and political stages in Egypt. During the 1950s, the National Bank of Egypt occupied the functions of the central bank. After it was nationalized in the 1960s, he worked as a pure commercial bank, in addition to performing the functions of the central bank in areas where there are no branches of the bank.
