Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange is pleased to announce ‘Cultural Encounters: Perspectives on Populism’, a flagship Interactive Open Online Course. In this 10-week course, participants learn with, and from, their peers in online sessions, as well as from expert academics and practitioners through customized lecture series.

This course will be offered twice:

  1. Autumn semester: October 14th- December 20th, 2019
  2. Spring semester: March 9th – May 15th, 2020

How does it work?

Participants will explore the new wave of anti-establishment politics gaining power around the world. Taking an often nationalist agenda, their policies are reshaping our relationship to neighboring countries and cultures. These political regimes claim to speak for the people and many people feel a connection to this form of politics so what is the appeal and what is the impact on democracy?

Stimulated by video lectures from expert academics and practitioners, participants exchange ideas and perspectives through Virtual Exchange and engage in an interactive assignment that brings the online experience to the offline reality. Participants develop transversal skills such as self-esteem, curiosity, and cross-cultural communication skills and will be awarded Erasmus+ digital Badges highlighting the skills achieved.

Eligibility Criteria:

Participation in the Interactive open Online Courses is open and free of charge to all youth between the age of 18-30, residing in one of the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange program countries.
